Every month we select at least one individual to be the recipient of the Covering Acadiana outreach. Our customers and community nominate individuals who cannot afford to repair their roof leaks and are living with water entering their homes, and we provide repairs at no charge. Pelican Roofing is the leading sponsor for our new outreach project located in Comitancillo, Guatemala. Guatemala is one of the poorest countries in Central America, with Comitancillo being one of the poorest provinces. Many of the people in Comitancillo live in villages up in the mountains of this remote town where they face harsh living conditions, little to no access to health care and very little opportunity to improve their day-to-day life. Many of the children in Comitancillo are not educated because their families cannot afford to purchase books, school supplies and uniforms. Our mission in Comitancillo is to help meet some of these immediate needs, but also address the larger problem of access to opportunity.
